If you are in the spa wellness industry, chances are you have heard of the Global Wellness Institute. An international think tank that aims to empower wellness worldwide by educating both public and private sectors. Engaging in roundtables, generating educational resources and conducting research, this not for profit organisation is getting my #ThankYourMentor shout out.
That’s not to say that I don’t owe a debt of gratitude to some significant figures in my career who have played pivotal roles in shaping who I am and how I operate as an industry professional today. In this instance though, I’d just like to bestow my thanks to this organisation and the many individuals worldwide who have dedicated their time, skills and knowledge in the relentless quest to deliver Global Wellness Institute initiatives. The research, education, roundtable discussions and resources have assisted myself and many others in the industry in both personal and professional development. Additionally, the institute stimulates innovation and provides an evidence base to forge new paths for spa business growth in conjunction with highlighting areas that have significant room for development – in this instance, education.
The drive I have for increasing and pioneering new education approaches in the spa wellness industry is highlighted at the global level with some of the key education pilot programs subject matter experts from around the world are facilitating. The famous Aristotle phrase ‘The whole is greater than the sum of it’s parts’ has never been more apt than when looking at the collection of committed spa wellness thought leaders from around the world who have gathered to deliver a global career development initiative currently in play.

The Career Development Program was stimulated by research conducted by the Global Wellness Summit. The outcome of the research demonstrated that whilst consumer demand was significantly increasing for spa and wellness services, the industry does not have enough qualified staff to meet the increased volume. The career development initiative was launched in pilot phase in September 2014 with 3 key programs:

3. Promoting spa as a career
